Friendly Call
Over 55 and Neighbourhood Watch London are helping to reach out to socially isolated individuals during COVID with a new, free service, Friendly Call. Volunteers will be phoning those who request the service on a periodic basis. If you would like to find out more about Friendly Call, please visit friendlycall.ca.
Bike Registry
To help prevent theft, London Police have engaged the services of 529 Garage to launch a free bicycle registry service for people living in London. The app works by alerting other London-area cyclists any time a bike is stolen or goes missing. When a bike is missing, users activate an alert notification to 529 Garage which is then sent out to be on the lookout for the missing bike. COVID-19 & Fraud
Since the federal government launched the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit (CERB), there have been reports of a number of scams. Here are some of the things to beware of to protect yourself from fraud according to Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre.
- Questionable third party companies that offer to help you fill out applications, such as CERB
- Criminals using your identity to sign-up for CERB and receive benefits
- Spoofed government healthcare, or research information
- Unsolicited calls requesting urgent action or payment and/or offering medical advice, financial relief, or government assistance and compensation

Yard Sales & COVID-19
June is traditionally a time of year when yard and garage sales are held. With COVID in mind, the Municipality of Middlesex Centre has posted the following advice on their website www.middlesexcentre.ca that might be helpful.
The Province has not deemed garage/yard sales as prohibited activities under the COVID-19 emergency orders. (Yard sales that are not operated as a business are not required to be closed under Provincial emergency order.)
However, should you wish to hold a yard sale you must comply with:
- the provincial regulations limiting social gatherings to no more than 5 people
- physical distancing guidelines (keeping 2 m or 6 ft apart from others), and
- any further advice from public health officials.
Spring Cleaning
The City of London Household Special Waste Depot has reopened. Here’s what you need to know from london.on.ca
Hazardous items can be dropped off at the Household Special Waste Depot at 3502 Manning Drive. Residents are reminded not to dispose of items like paint and batteries through curbside garbage collection.
London residents can also drop off leaves and brush, Blue Box recyclables, tires, electronics such as TVs and monitors, as well as scrap metal.
